Nelly has been nominated for three Western Canadian Music Awards -Nelly Furtado triple nominee in Western Canadian Music Awards

CALGARY – Nelly Furtado drew nominations in three categories, including Entertainer of the Year, in the list of nominees for the 2004 Western Canadian Music Awards announced Tuesday in Calgary.

In addition to top entertainer, Furtado’s Folklore is nominated for both Outstanding Pop Recording and Outstanding Album (Major Label).

The other candidates for Entertainer of the Year are Michael Bublé, Doc Walker, Sarah McLachlan and Nickelback.

The awards ceremony is part of a three-day music conference and festival that will also include an awards show honouring behind-the-scenes industry workers and workshops for youth interested in pursuing musical careers.

This year marks the second edition of the annual awards ceremony, which recognises outstanding achievement by musicians from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon.

The event was established in late 2002 when the Prairie Music Alliance joined with the Music Industry Associations of B.C. and the Yukon to form the Western Canada Music Alliance.

The Western Canadian Music Awards will be distributed at the Jack Singer Concert Hall on 3rd Oct.
