The night I met Nelly! (only if youre bored)

I don't recall ever sharing about my moment with nelly...

Okay. So the date was Saturday, 9th February and Nelly was performing at the Spreckals Theatre in downtown San Diego. Me and my friend Tonya got there, walked to the shopping centre to get some Jamba Juice, came back, and were surprised that there were so many different kinds of people. There were old rich white people on dates, little middle school girls with Nsync shirts on, big time regggae pot heads, and then some somewhat normal looking people haha jk.

So anyway, our seats were ok. We were in the front row... Of the second level! It was a real intimite venue so it was okay. Nelly was awesome... After the concert, we both are in comoplete Nelly bliss and ya know the adrenalin is still in our bloods after "On The Radio" and we go out into the lobby and spend like 20 bucks or something on those laniards to put your ticket stub in.

After that we went nextdoor to Wendy's to pee cuz boy I was NOT gonna do it during the show. So anyway, we walk out of Wendy's and I realise that... Nelly went INTO the venue. She would pbviously have to come OUT Of it. So we walked around looking for her bus and finally on the side of the block I saw her guitarist (white blonde dude?) and I asked him if Nelly was coming out soon and he said yeah she is he just didn't know when.

So then we're waiting around right? And then I see Lil Jazz bringing some equipment outside! And I say, "HEY! You're the DJ guy huh!" and he says "Yeah." "You rocked tonight!" i said to him and he said "thanks" and smiled cuz I was a little over-enthused. A wave of SHEER brilliance swept over me and I whipped out an American dollar bill and my pen and I wrote a note on it. "Nelly, I love you so much! Great job tonight and never forget me! Love, one of your biggest fans, Vincent Franquez." So I take this dollar and I ask Lil Jazz if, when he goes backstage, he could give it to Nelly for me... He was a little puzzled but he did it anyway. Nice guy.

About oh... 15 minutes later, he and the bassist come out and he's drinking a soda! And I says to him "Hey! Did you spend my Nelly note on that?" and he started laughing and said that he gave it to her and that she said it was sweet. Awww!!!

So then 2 tour buses park on the side (one with a big BIRD on the side, haha!) and me and my friend Tonya are like...having multiple heart attacks. Then all her band like... comes out all at once, that backup singer chick, Lil Jazz, the guitarists, her drummer... and they all load the bus. By this time there were already maybe about 15 to 30 other fans that have gathered around, too.

So this short lady who I assumed is an assistant comes out and tells us "Nelly is gonna be coming out soon, she loves signing stuff so don't worry she'll see everybody. Just don't make any sudden movements because she'll have 2 very big, macho, tough black body guards with her so be careful."

And then finally, standing on a piss-stained pavement for more than an hour on a cold-ass San Diego Saturday night/Sunday morning in February paid off... In the distance I see this SHORT girl with a hat and a scarf come out from the building. As she gets closer I'm thinkin' "This chicks short, it can't be her." And then she gets closer and I'm thiking "OMG IT IS NELLY!!!! ARRGGH!!!"

So she's looking beautiful in her little puma jacket and a knitted scarf right and she busts out a blue sharpee and is like "Hey guys!" And I'm shitting my pants and probably cuting off circulation to my friend's arm...

So Nelly comes to me and I'm holding onto the laniard that's around my neck and she's smiling and I'm like "OH YEAH DUH, HERE" and I hand her my laniard and she touches my pinky!!!!! So she's signing and I'm like the name's vincent.

Time must've stood still for a while cuz it seemed like she was signing forever. Then I FINALLY opened my mouth to talk to her.... Finally I had my chance to tell Nelly how much she meant to me and how much her music has inspired me as a person... And I open my mouth... and I utter: "Gee.. You have REALLY nice teeth!"

WTF!? NICE TEETH!? What did I do?! And she looks at me with a weird half-smile and her bodyguards stared me down and she's like "Thaaaanks....." OMG I totally blew it! So she continues signing and finally once almost all the other fans have left (hah! dummies!) I get up the courage and I said "You're music means so much. Thank you. You're great live." And she listened as the was signing and she smiled, and when she was done, she looked up at me FACE-TO-FACE and said "Aw thanks." And that's when I asked if she had received my dollar and she said "Oh that was you? Yeah.. It was sweet!"

ARRGGHH!!! She said it was sweet!! ok, I'll chill... but you don't understand how cool it was!!! So me and Tonya waited until she boarded the bus and left.... It was like the PEPRFECT night.

it reminds me my story about nelly.. but when i had the oportunity to talk to her i said: "can i take a pic? (in english)" ..and she said "Claro ( off course in english)" ..and i said "Gracias (thanks in spanish)" ... So i was.. what did i do? i spoke in spanish with her.. i was so confused, i knew she speaks portuguese, which is my original lnguage, but i was OHH ..i couldn't think very well cause i was talking to her...And she was there lokking at me and thinking : "this girl is crazy, why is she speaking apanish?" it was GREAT

yeah somewhat, theyre both romance languages. i speak a lil spanish and when i read portuguese, its quite a bit different. every once and a while i see a few similar words and stuff but thats about it.

Im sorry bout that man, if i woulda met nelly i would prolly do the same thing! i dunno though, i maybe could try an keep my cool and not f up. who knows though, i never met her yet!! ad:

Aquele dia foi muuuito bom...acho que todos estavam meio "oww e agora...que fa?o"...hahaha...
Mas foi um dos dias melhores quej? tive...pude ve-la, falar com ela, pegar um autografo no meu encarte do CD (lembro que tinha gente pedindo para autografar a cal?a) e ainda tirei uma foto com ela...naum esque?o t?o cedo!!!

Anyway, I wish I had an experience like that!!!! but when I went to da concert, it tooked us hours to get the car out of the car park, and my friend house has so far away from the place that the concert tooked place, so I was too shy to tell him if we could stay and wait if Nelly was comin out of the theatre to sign stuff, but we did drive a lil bit around, just in case...
