ok guys, I know this was posted before, but the topic is closed I don't know why! but wathever here is my point of view ok?
I just saw the movie 3 days ago....for me this movie is just a commercial movie that is using the violence and the blood of Jes?s to atract people, in my opinion I don't know who's behind of mel gisbson ok but I think is a movie just to make that the catholic, crhistians...recover the fe, cause now in these times the church (el Papa etc..) is loosing alot of power...and also I think that the movie has a lot of mistakes 1?---the actors wer talking in Lat?n and it should be greek cause in that times in the top was the roman empire and the principal lenguage there was Greek 2?---the crossifiction? I don't know how to say it in english..but well when jes?s is in the cross, they put the screws int the hand what is really really wrong, cause if u put a screw in the hand of someone the body jus fell down, cause in the hand there are only muscles and skin (no bones) well I used to have more mistakes in my mind but I forgot it...and beleive me this is the begining of comercial movies about bible histories to make people recover the "fe" but well that's my point of view....and a recomendation>>>> u have to watch the movie The las temptation of christ...cause that movie uses the reason to explain the things ok bye

It was closed as the topic extended over a long period of time and nothing was really being said cept for some religious arguments that looked on the verge of heating up.
I'll avoid opinions but to reply to your two mistakes. Firstly, they were speaking Aramaic, which is slightly similar to Hebrew. Jesus spoke only Aramaic. The Gospels were written in Greek. Secondly, (it's "crucifiction" by the way ) a nail is hammered through the feet of the crucified and rests on a base that extends from the cross. Notice Jesus is not completely outstretched. This is done so that much of the strain of the body weight is relieved from the arms/hands so that nails through the hands are sufficient. Therefore, in theory their hands would not rip apart and would hold up fine, but I must admit I've seen and heard of the nails being driven through the arms. Although that would kill them quite quickly.

Well actually jesus was speaking greek and not aramaic like in the movie, because alexander the great had conquered the area and it become the main language spoken.
And jesus did not die on a cross(the representation of a cross is the Male and Female sexual organs) he would die on something false. Jesus was put up on a stake like the ancient christians with the nails going through his wrists so his hands did not rip apart and his feets, because all the weigh went many towards his ribs which forced terrible pain when you trying to get the chest up fully outstretched.

I saw the mov ie and is the same that the others Jesus movies.... I don't know Where is the controversy?... and I didnt see a lot of blood .. I think that the commentaries before the premier were only publicity so that people went to see it.. that was the same with "El Crimen del Padre Amaro" that to the final the 2 movies..they were bad..

OOOOKAAAAY. Lemme start and settle this conversation. If you all went to the theatre, it had SUCH an extra effect. The movie was very moving. I really do not think it was a publicity stunt. I mean SERIOUSLY, if Mel Gibson REALLY wanted to make a movie showing his perspective on how harsh and brutal and honest Jesus' last days were, then let him. He did a great job in my opinion. I don't really know HOW anyone could mock or dissillude that at all. It really is very tastefully done. All that talk of "it's too violent" is complete bullshit. It doesn't show enough violence in my opinion. Jesus was treated VERy harshly and I'm glad someone decided to put it on the big screen.
As I said, the movie is very artistic and to comment on another post from another section (I won't say...), whether you believe this is a "fairy-tale" or not, It's a touching story. We should all learn a lesson from this. I'm not saying everyone should believe in Jesus, I'm just saying it's pretty hard to condemn if you're actually TRYING to watch the movie. If you went to the movie to see gore, get the hell out. If you went to the movie to see a touching story, that's what you'll get. Simple as that.
