Nelly Furtado to perform Friday Night 8th Sep 2006 at the Ovation Music Festival, Stratford, Ontario, Canada!

The Ovation Music Festival is excited to be welcoming Canada’s International pop sensation, Nelly Furtado to headline the Friday, 8th September performance in Stratford, Ontario as part of it’s three-day weekend of Canadian music.

Her new CD Loose debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and the Canadian and U.S. Nielsen SoundScan charts. Her single “Promiscuous” is competing for No. 1 spot in Canada and the U.S. for the past month while yet another single, “Maneater” is No. 1 in the U.K.

Furtado came to fame in 2000 with the release of her debut album “Whoa, Nelly!,” selling over 6 million copies worldwide, it featured the Grammy Award-winning single “I’m Like a Bird” and “Turn off the Light”. In 2003 Furtado released her sophomore album “Folklore” and although it was not as successful as “Whoa, Nelly!,” it still managed to hit platinum in 2 countries and gold in over 5 other countries, including USA, UK and The Netherlands.

“We are excited and honoured to have Nelly Furtado as part of our weekend” said Chris Parson, president of Standing Ovation Productions. “What a coup!”

Also performing on Friday night: Sloan, Hedley and Stabilo.

The Ovation Music Festival runs 8th – 10th September 2006. Other headliners include The Tragically Hip and Bachman/Cummings.

Nelly Furtado has finally made it to downunder (Australia), its been a very VERY long time since she last visited.. (did she ever visit?) anyway… A member of the BITS forum (Talitha) is going to be meeting Nelly along with probably some other Aussie BITS members hopefully! Hooray for the Aussies! BUT, this is your chance to ask Nelly a question, please post your question below, or go to this topic in the forum and post your question there. Talitha will then hopefully try and ask Nelly the questions. Don’t all rush at once.

Hello to everybody!!!! I am super excited about the enthusiasm surrounding my album!!! Thanks for making “Loose” a hit around the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you enjoy my new video with Calle 13, “No Hay Igual”. It should be posted here real soon. I had a blast shooting it in La Perla, Puerto Rico. Stay tuned, because I will be announcing tour dates really soon. I will be touring North America first, then Europe, the UK, and South America. Keep posting, and supporting. I stumbled accross this photos of Nelly performing in Barbados, these relate to performance in the recent interview she did with Entertainment Tonight Canada. From the details it seems that Nelly was performing with the Philosopher Kings. Nelly Furtado and Jarvis performed a Bob Marley cover together.

German Fans! Nelly to play “Rock am Ring” and “Rock im Park” in June 2006

“Rock im Park” and “Rock am Ring” are the two largest open-air events in Europe. More than 150,000 people are expected to visit these highlights of the European Open-Air season.

The festival runs from 2nd – 4th June 2006. Nelly is confirmed to be playing there. You can see her name on this poster. Click thumbnail on left for a larger version.
